✨ Stop Shrinking to Fit Places You’ve Outgrown

There’s a quiet habit many of us carry—especially as women—that we don’t always recognize right away.

We shrink.

Not in obvious ways. Not in ways anyone would necessarily call out.

But in subtle, everyday moments:

  • We soften our opinions
  • Downplay our success
  • Stay quiet when we have something to say
  • Make ourselves smaller so others feel more comfortable

And for a long time, it feels… normal.

Until one day, it doesn’t.

Prefer to listen:

After 40, something begins to shift.
You start to notice when a room feels tight.
When conversations feel limiting.
When relationships feel like they require you to be less than who you are.

And here’s the truth:

You’re not too much.
You’ve just outgrown spaces that were never meant to hold the woman you’re becoming.

Growth will do that.

It stretches you beyond old mindsets, old dynamics, and sometimes even old relationships.

And if you’re not careful, you’ll try to shrink yourself back down just to make things feel familiar again.

But familiar isn’t always aligned.

And comfort isn’t always where you’re meant to stay.

You may feel it in conversations where you hold back.
In rooms where you don’t quite fit anymore.
In moments where you question whether you should say less, do less, or be less.

Let me gently remind you:

Confidence isn’t about becoming louder.
It’s about becoming more of who you already are—without editing yourself to make others comfortable.

That kind of confidence?
It’s built in small, brave decisions.

Speaking when it would be easier to stay quiet.
Showing up when it would feel safer to shrink.
Allowing yourself to be seen—fully and honestly.

And yes… that can feel uncomfortable.

Because not everyone will grow with you.
Not everyone will understand you.

But that doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path.

It simply means you’re moving forward.

And as you do, you’ll find something beautiful:

The right people won’t be intimidated by your growth.
They’ll be inspired by it.
Drawn to it.
Encouraged by it.

So if something has been nudging you lately—
to speak up,
to show up,
to take up a little more space…

This is your reminder:

You don’t need to shrink to belong.
You just need to stand fully in who you are becoming.

💛 A gentle question for you:

Where in your life have you been shrinking—and what would it look like to show up fully instead?

P.S. This week is a meaningful one for me. In honor of my mom and her journey with breast cancer, I’m donating my commissions to breast cancer research. I’m also setting aside pieces from my personal inventory throughout the week from ever order placed, and every order placed will be entered to win the entire collection. If you’ve been thinking about treating yourself or someone you love, this felt like a beautiful time to give back together. 💕
